Description

Kitoro traditional songs are mostly from along the Rigo District coastal villages and this particular song was composed about young men taken out of their villages during the second world war as labourers and carriers. Some of them became very homesick and some of them were wanting to get back home, but they couldn't. This song like Gaire Na Tano Arana relates to a place Gaire Na Tano, the village, and Tano is land, the ground. The young men are thinking of the girlfriends of their mothers back home. They express their words like I left my girlfriend in the village, she is most beautifully formed and when I get back from this terrible job, we will meet and I will kiss her from her nose to the toenails.
