Description

This text was taken during the uɲiŋ celebration. uɲiŋ occurs once every gohup (complete cycle) of crop production and harvest. After the hillsides are cut and burned, seeds are sown. As the crops start to grow, the next activity is ambu bunam 'weeding'. According to the speaker, weeding is a very important part of growing crops. He compares this with əda ennam 'hunting with traps', since both of these activities require determination and persistence. This is where men can be divided into migam ('lucky and skilful men') and mibur ('unlucky and skill-less men'). Good weeding yields a good harvest.
