Description

Driver Lane is located between Elizabeth and Swanston streets. It extends north from Little Bourke Street, providing an access-way to the Strand Arcade. Driver Lane was refurbished in October 2004 by the Money Order Office, Australia Post, and the City of Melbourne. It is now host to restaurants, boutique shops, and an outdoor screen designed for creative media arts. The refurbishment of Driver Lane included the widening and paving of footpaths, expanding and paving the exit to the Strand Arcade, and the installation of new street lights. The improved Driver Lane was officially launched by Lord Mayor John So on 13 October 2004.
