sketcher and naval officer, was born on 21 August 1735, near Plymouth, England, and joined the navy. He was commander of the Adventure on Cook’s second voyage which visited Van Diemen’s Land in 1773. There Captain Furneaux made a rough drawing of the Adventure . He was the first person to circumnavigate the globe in both directions. This entry is a stub.
