graphic artist and industrial designer, born Estonia; arrived Australia in the 1930s from Germany. Won Sulman Prize in 1939. One of the first poster artists to work in a semi abstract style in Melbourne. Later adapted Aboriginal Art to advertising. Stamp design featuring Aboriginal rock carving of crocodile 1948, pen, ink gouache on card, National Philatelic Museum, Melbourne (ill Baddeley).Did the colour lithographic posters Sunshine and Surf, Australia 1932 (National Archives), Surf Club Australia 1935 (National Archives) and Australia [Boomerang] 1957 (National Gallery of Australia) for the Australian National Travel Association; The Grampians, Victoria, Australia c.1939 (NLA) for the Victorian Railways (poster no.117). Sellheim was a graphic artist and industrial designer. He won the Sulman Prize in 1939 and was one of the first poster artists to work in a semi abstract style in Melbourne. He also undertook work as a muralist for the Victorian Tourist Bureau, the NZ Centennial Exhibition 1939 as well as domestic clients.
