28N Whittingham S Singleton - named by H. C. Dangar in 1821 after place of the same name in Haddingtonshire in Scotland. The school house here was licensed for use as a Church in January 1, 1829 - formed into a Parish August 10, 1839. Ref: Stretch Ledger A9082
