28R Vaucluse Sub of Sydney - named by Sir Henry Browne Hayes after a village and Department in France to the north of Marseilles : comes from the Latin vallis clausa = a closed up valley. Ref: Stretch Ledger A9082 Note: Vaucluse House - was built and named by Sir Henry Browne Hayes - it was bought in 1827 by William Charles Wentworth one of the three explorers who discovered a way across the Blue Mountains.
