12W Deniliquin S Hay - Benjamin Boyd named it in 1842 when he took up land Corruption of Aboriginal: Denilakoon the name of the chief of the local tribe when the whites arrived here "Denilakoon" was also a famed wrestler. The name meant" big fellow" and he stood 188cm tall (6'2") and was credited with killing several white men. (historic towns) page 106 S/H 25/6/95.
