Biography
Landscape painter. Lavinia Figtree was born at Sheffield in England, on 8th May, 1889, and came to Australia when she was 12. Two of her streetscapes of Wollongong are in the collection of the Wollongong City Art Gallery. She is however best known through her descendants. Her daughter, Joyce Gittoes, became a ceramic artist; her granddaughter is Pamela Griffith the painter and printmaker; and her grandson is George Gittoes the painter, printmaker, and film maker.
