Biography
Born in the early 1940s, Big Dave’s country was near Yuendumu and he was custodian for a number of different stories in this region, including Snake, Bush Potato, Black Kite, Emu, Dingo, Bush Yams, Spear, Possum and Witchetty Grubs. He had painted since the mid ’80s for Warlukurlangu Artists and his work was included in many of their exhibitions in the late ’80s in Perth, Alice Springs, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Canberra, Sydney, Portsmouth England, Seattle, USA and in the Dreamscapes exhibition in Pittsburgh USA in 1991. For a time, medical treatment required him to remain in Alice Springs, where he worked as an independent producer, selling his work through the Centre for Aboriginal Artists.
