Biography
Brian Irving was born in 1944 in Grafton, NSW and is of the Bundjalung language group. He has been working as a painter since 1995 using acrylics on vinyl, milk cans, plough discs and crosscut saws and in 2004 he exhibited his work in the New England Regional Art Museum in Armidale, NSW. Irving has been a finalist in the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Country Energy Art Prize as well as the 2005 Parliament of NSW Indigenous Art Prize. In 2002 Irving was awarded Guyra’s Citizen of the Year Award and has also been awarded the Centenary Medal for his contribution to Koori Art.
