Margaret Chatfield Henry of the Kurtajar language group of the Gulf of Carpentaria was born in 1953. Henry is a painter who works with canvas, paper and emu eggs. Henry won art awards at the 1999 and 2001 Laura Cultural and Dance Festival in Laura, Queensland. She was represented in the 2001 Brisbane exhibition “Gatherings, Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art from Queensland, Australia” and says in the accompanying catalogue that her paintings and designs “reflect those stories of the land, our country, the animals and the environment that she (and her mother) grew up in.” This entry is a stub.
