Biography
Born at Lajamanu 1956, MaryAnn was a Warlpiri. Her country was Kunajarrayi and Dreamings, Warna, Laju and Ngalyipi. Her Laju – Witchetty Grub – Dreaming painting was put onto a T-shirt. She sometimes worked with her sister-in-law, Lynette Tasman . She started painting in 1987 and became one of the most successful Lajamanu artists, especially amongst the younger women. Very articulate, in Warlpiri and also in English – she negotiated the deal to have her painting on the T-shirt herself. Writers: Johnson, Vivien Date written: 1994 Last updated: 2011
