Born in 1969 of the Jiddabul people of North Queensland, Gerald Iljiddimor Surha’s sythentic polymer on canvas paintings depict the Dreaming stories and legends of the rainforests of tropical Queensland. He showed his work in the 2001 exhibition “Gatherings, Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art from Queensland, Australia” in Brisbane and his artist statement from that exhibitions says, “My artistic inspiration is my ardent desire to witness the next generation of my people visually experience the rainforest the way I did as a child.” This entry is a stub.
