Biography
West’s visual arts practice directly relates to a lived awareness of death and memorial; working with sculpture, video, performance and installation. She is currently completing a Masters by Research at Charles Darwin University and is also involved in the Green Burial and Death Café movement. Grants and Awards include: Australian Post-Graduate Award Scholarship, Ian Potter Cultural Trust Travel Grant, Australia Council for the Arts New Work Emerging Artists Grant, numerous Arts NT grants in Professional Development, Presentation & Promotion and Arts Development categories. Artist-in-residence: Australian National University Canberra; Waaw Residency, Senegal; Australia Council/ACME London Residency, UK; Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, France; Lost Generation Space Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and the Hill End Artist in Residence Program, New South Wales.
