Description

According to Mr De Villiers, 'Mageelong' is the Aboriginal name for the Snowy River in Kurnai country. "During the night though the blacks wore the semblance of perfect security, by any observer it could be seen that they were not altogether at ease, and the shooting of the natives at (Mageelong) 'Snowy River,' was frequently mentioned, and appeared to have made a deep impression of dread upon them."
