Biography
Jida Murray-Gulpilil was born in Paddington in 1974. He is a Wemba Wemba/Dja Dja Wurrung/Mandalpingu man who works in the mediums of painting, carving and etching onto bark. He was a finalist in the 2005 Victorian Indigenous Art Awards and the accompanying catalogue states that he learnt his artistic practice through a “variety of sources, especially by traditional learning practices through family relationships” (p. 38).
