Biography
Sharni O’Connor was born on Thursday Island, Torres Strait in 1989. She carves jewellery in the shapes of marine life and the flora of the Torres Strait from gold lipped mother-of-pearl shells. O’Connor exhibited in the 2006 'Gatherings II’ exhibition in Brisbane and states in the accompanying catalogue that “mother-of-pearl is such a beautiful medium. I look for the lustre, pattern and iridescent hues when choosing which piece of shell to carve. It is like a gem from the ocean and I feel that every piece has its own magic.” This entry is a stub.
