Description

Tete Manim's memories about the first time he went to Manokwari, during the conflict between Indonesia and West Papua, in the transition period (around 1965). Notes regarding the transcription: OPM: Organisasi Papua Merdeka (Free West Papua Movement) UNIPA: Universitas Papua (University of Papua, in Manokwari) UNCEN: Universitas Cendrawasih (The main campus of UNCEN is in Jayapura. Formerly, the faculty of agriculture of UNCEN was based in Manokwari. It is now called UNIPA.) Kebun percobaan: faculty of forestry and agriculture in UNIPA (in the text, translated as "experimental garden"). HPB: Hoofd Plaatselijk Bestuur (Dutch term for the Head of District during the Dutch period in West Papua). Transcribed in the text as "HPB" or "APB" depending on the pronunciation of the speaker. "koramil": army unit in the district level, can refer to the commander of this unit "kompi": army unit composed of 100 soldiers, larger than "koramil", can refer to the commander of this unit.
