Description

Interview and Song, Roi Mata. This tape is a copy of one taken from a radio broadcast in 1967, recorded by Paul Gardissat. Paul gave me [David Luders] the copy in January 1994. It is a Bislama interview and a singing of two songs. The first is one of the making of chiefs on Efate, allegedly by RoiMata. The second is allegedly the song about Roi Mata's death. Roi Mata and the Efate War (Sokomanu) -- This is a recording of Pastor Simbolo commenting on E/S 1, singing a song of Roi Mata's burial, singing a song of Roi Mata's son going to Emai [sic], singing the song of the great Efate war of which Sokomanu was the great figure and which led to the flight of people from Efate to other islands. The Kuwae Legend: A recording of the full rendition of one version of the Kuwae legend with four songs. Mostly by Simbolo but with some spoken input by Obed Mera (of Lopevi). Interviewed by D.
